White Milk Paint Kitchen Cabinets

We are in the beginning stages of painting our kitchen cabinets white.
I had originally planned on using the general finishes snow white milk paint but read so many bad reviews about the white taking 4 coats to cover. I am very frustrated any advice would be appreciated. I am sure some of you are curious to see how they are holding up so i wanted to give you a follow up report. I took this picture after 3 coats of the milk paint.
My original tutorial on how to paint your cabinets with milk paint which you can read here has generated lots of interest within the past year and is actually becoming one of my most popular posts so i assume that many of you would like to know how durable they have proved to be over the course of 12 months. I was covering my 1960 s orange oak cabinets with snow white general finishes milk paint. What happened when i didn t sand. It is a pretty good size and has an island that serves as a counter prep space and can feed all three kids comfortably.
Milk painted upper cabinets cherry bases. Back in october i decided to paint my kitchen island with milk paint and it truly was the easiest experience i have ever had painting cabinets. When i started painting my cabinets i did not sand and i did not use primer. I applied two coats of oil based polyurethane by brush.

I was pretty. For a little refresher here. The milk paint is a custom mix of colors from the old fashioned milk paint company. While i did love the kitchen i had an itch to paint the cabinets white to coordinate with the island and the other two pieces in the kitchen white with a butcher block top.
